| RESEARCH | ||
| Dr. Moore conducts research aimed at understanding the relationship between public policy, the built environment, the social environment, and physical activity in youth. He is especially interested in applying an ecological approach to studying physical activity in rural and other underserved populations. Dr. Moore has conducted intervention research aimed at the prevention of inappropriate increases in adiposity in elementary school children, increasing walking behaviors in rural communities, and reducing obesity in inner city children. In addition, he has conducted epidemiological studies of physical activity in rural youth. He is currently leading a study to examine the effectiveness of local policy and environmental changes to promote physical activity in youth in 20 counties across North Carolina, which is being funded by the Active Living Research Program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. | ||
