South Carolina Turning Point Mission:
To strengthen the infrastructure of public health in South Carolina.
South Carolina Turning Point is a state/local initiative to enhance South Carolina's
infrastructure for public health. Turning Point partners have come together to
transform and strengthen South Carolina's capacity to protect and improve the
public's health.
The plan is intended to improve the basic system designed to promote and protect the public's health in South Carolina. The process involves communities and many different private and public partners from state and local agencies, higher education, medical schools, health departments, private physicians and other health care providers, business and non-profit organizations. Because the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) is the lead governmental public health agency, it coordinated bringing all of the partners together to develop Turning Point recommendations. This process has been collaborative.
