Traumatic brain injury (TBI), commonly referred to as a
head injury, occurs when sudden trauma causes damage to
the brain. Every year 1.5 - 2 million individuals
sustain a trauma to the brain from transportation
accidents, falls, gun-shot wounds or other violent acts.
Communication problems are a common disability as a
result of a traumatic brain injury. Speech-language
pathologists at our Center provide the necessary
cognitive rehabilitation services to these patients. The
Center also provides support group services to patients
and their families.
