The Greater Columbia New Voice Club serves
laryngectomees and their families throughout South
Carolina and Georgia. With a strong emphasis on
community service the club has established a community
outreach program, a hospital visitation program and many
members work closely with the American Cancer Society
(ACS) in their outreach to school age children with
regard to the dangers of smoking. Additionally members
are involved in the American Cancer Society Relay for
Life. The New Voice Club also provides support to those
laryngectomees who do not have benefit of a
speech-language pathologist or do not have the means to
obtain an artificial larynx device (ALD). The club
maintains a substantial loaner closet and has been able
to provide some area laryngectomees with an ALD who
otherwise would not have been able to obtain a device
and therefore would have been unable to communicate. The
club also offers limited assistance with their chosen
method of speech for indigent laryngectomees. The club
meets the third Thursday of each month at 7 pm.
