The University of South Carolina, through its Arnold School of
Public Health and Institute for Partnerships to Eliminate Health
Disparities, has established the MATCH Project - Mobilizing Against
Threats to Community Health. This initiative aims to protect
the public's health now and in the future by preparing underserved
and disenfranchised communities for new and emerging infectious
diseases. The purpose of the MATCH Project is to enhance
community involvement in preparing for and responding to threats to
community health.
The ensure a broad national reach and
appropriate community-level immersion, USC has engaged the network
of Cooperative Extension Programs of the 1890 Land-Grant
Institutions as partners in fostering community engagement.
USC will work with extension programs across the 1890 network to
support communities - particularly communities of color - in
effectively mobilizing against threats to community health.
Community projects designed to explore innovative preparedness
solutions will be a hallmark of this initiative.
