Health disparities are among the most
complex and intractable public health problems threatening the United
States, impacting communities and individuals in a variety of ways. In
an attempt to reduce and eliminate health disparities in communities
throughout South Carolina and the nation, there are a variety of institutions
and organizations committed to developing public health workers, as well
as programs and services focused on improving and protecting the health
of communities.
About The Institute for Partnerships
to Eliminate Health Disparities
The mission of the Institute is to eliminate health disparities
through community, academic and other strategic partnerships in South
Carolina and beyond. The Institute was created to allow the university
to enhance its public and private partnerships. These partnerships
provide the opportunity for the pursuit of inter-institutional,
multi-disciplinary research, education, and training to address health
disparities.
