PROJECT
OVERVIEW/
ABSTRACT: |
The Healthy Aging Research Network has been funded since 2001 by the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The University of South
Carolina is one of nine universities who participate in this network.
These nine universities are a subset of the 33 Prevention Research
Centers located throughout the United States.
The mission of the Healthy
Aging Research Network is to better understand the determinants of healthy
aging in older adult populations; to identify interventions that promote
healthy aging; and to assist in the translation of such research into sustainable
community-based programs throughout the nation.
Active Options: South Carolina
The purpose of the Active Options project is to identify
physical activity programs available for older adults
throughout South Carolina and to create an attractive and
user friendly website that provides information about types
of programs, location and cost of programs and other
relevant data that might encourage older adults to seek a
program to become and active part of. Working with
other Prevention Research Centers, the Active Options
Project is a nation-wide endeavor.
