Goals

  • To provide a unique service to children, their families, teachers and other professionals in local and state communities:
    • Diagnostic Services
    • Individual and Group Enrichment Programs
    • Home Enrichment Activities
    • Support for Community Programs
  • To enhance and support the education of pre-professionals (undergraduate and graduate students)
  • To contribute to the continuing education of active professionals
  • To maintain a position on the cutting edge of issues in research on:
    • children's motor development
    • childhood physical activity


Laboratory Facilities

PMD is housed in The PERCEPTUAL MOTOR DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY on the USC-Columbia Campus in the Blatt P.E. Center

  • Specially designed rooms for diagnostics
  • Large and medium size rooms for large muscle/gross motor activities
  • Smaller rooms for enrichment of fine motor skills
  • Small rooms for promoting visual perception & body awareness behaviors
  • Office space for lab staff, lab director and student clinicians
  • Parent’s reception area and resource room
  • Area for computer-based games/activities for fine motor development, memory and other learning skills
  • Computers, printers, video recording and viewing equipment
