  • Fitness directors and instructors
  • Physical educators

  • Dieticians

The workshop is designed to provide candidates with a thorough review of the core competencies expected of a certification candidate. They also afford the opportunity to practice some of the competencies found in the practical portion of the exam. Content areas include Applied Exercise Science, Pathophysiology, Pre-Activity Screening/Risk Stratification, Metabolic Calculations, Human Behavior and Counseling, Program Administration/Safety & Emergency Procedures, Cardiorespiratory Fitness, Weight Management & Body Composition, Muscular Fitness/Flexibility Assessment, and Exercise Programming for Special Populations. Practical sessions, scheduled throughout the workshop, are designed to complement the accompanying lectures and improve the participant’s techniques on skills that were reviewed in the lecture sessions. Ample time is set aside for individual mastery of the presented practical skills. Involvement depends on you. Thursday evening is also available for additional preparation. Workshop participants will be subjects during practical sessions; please come dressed for skinfold and circumference measurements, strength testing, and functional capacity tests. Appropriate dress for the women includes ladies’ bathing suit tops or sports bras for the skinfold testing and proper athletic shoes for everyone. Practical partners and study partners are your choice.
