Prospective Students
The environmental health sciences examine the causes
and effects of the interactions between humans and their environment.
The faculty of the Department of Environmental Health Sciences has
expertise in a broad range of disciplines necessary for the solution of
problems in the environmental health sciences. The educational
backgrounds and professional experiences of the faculty include air
pollution, analytical chemistry, aquatic and mammalian toxicology,
aquatic ecology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, risk assessment,
exposure analysis, environmental engineering, environmental law,
environmental physiology, environmental planning, hazardous materials
management, impact assessment, industrial hygiene, occupational
medicine, noise pollution and hearing conservation, occupational health,
terrestrial and landscape ecology, water and waste ware treatment, and
resource management.
Many faculty members have extensive practical
experience and most serve as consultants in environmental or
occupational health. Many of our adjunct professors are employed
in local industry or government. The faculty's high level of
professional activity is evidenced by numerous technical publications in
professional journals, by presentations at technical meetings, and by
service on local and national boards and committees.
The USC Arnold School of Public Health ENHS program
offers four degrees, a non-thesis Masters' degree (MPH), two
thesis masters' degrees (MSPH and MS) and the
Ph.D.
