The Physical Therapy Program at the University of South Carolina is designed to foster in students a commitment to practicing evidence-based physical therapy and a commitment to continuing education throughout their professional careers. The curriculum is designed to provide students with interaction with other disciplines that will lead to respect for their contribution to patient management while recognizing the body of information unique to the profession of physical therapy. The intent of the foundational core of the curriculum is to provide the basis for the development of strong clinical skills. The program is committed to deliver a level of content that is reflective of education at the doctoral level. The curriculum is sequenced to provide students with a foundation upon which clinical skills are developed and refined. Clinical experiences are designed to provide students with the opportunity to practice and refine their clinical skills and are sequenced to complement didactic instruction. The program faculty believes that multiple instructional methods are appropriate for all content across the curriculum and that the instructional method should be selected based upon the nature of the content to be delivered and the needs of the students.
