- France, 26 December 2004 - 2

bottom fearing they had a terrible accident.

Carolina.

Research in
Charleston and in the Brain
Imaging Center of Excellence Columbia.
- Germany, 24 May - 2 June
2004. Returning to work with Otto Karnath and his team in Tuebingen. Sailing on Lake
Constance was a higlight.
- Brazil, 1-10 May 2004. fMRI Experience and a work with the neuroimaging lab at the University of
Campinas.
- Italy, 18-21 April 2004. Had
a great time in Modena at the First Congress of the European
Neuropsychological Societies. It was a great chance to talk science and
see old friends, as well as put faces to names of people
I had not met before. The organizers deserve credit for
putting together a splendid conference.
- United States, 24 March - 16
April 2004. A visit to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Maui
and Oahu. A chance to see friends, family and get in some
well deserved scuba diving. I also gave talks in Berkeley, Synarc, and UC San Francisco.
- England 26-27 February 2004.
I returned to my old workplace in Cambridge to give a talk and spend time with old
friends.
- United States, 7-21 February
2004. Research trip to South Carolina, including time at
MUSC and the Univeristy of South Carolina.
- Ireland, 15-18 January 2004.
A visit to Dublin and a talk at Trinity College Dublin.
- United States, November 2003
Trip to South Carolina.
- France, 1-5 September 2003. I
gave a talk this year at ECVP in Pairs.
- Italy, 13-22 August 2003. Off
to Milan and perhaps Lago Maggiore. Good food, people, hiking and scenery. A
nice holiday makes it difficult to come back to work.
- Norway, 28 June 2003. A
Norwegian wedding experience. Chris Gore and Brigitte
tied the knot in Fredrikstad. I got to play the part of
best man.
- Wales, May-June 2003. Spent
the weekend on Steve and Georgina's house on Angelsey
Island. Great weather, fantastic beaches, a well needed
break.
- Fiji, May 2003. I did some
scuba diving in Fiji - the photos simply do not do
justice to the diversity and quantity of life that
thrives on the coral reefs. I lived and dived from the Naia,
allowing us to explore different dive sites each day. A
really fantastic experience - the crew, divemasters and
other divers (including members of the Monterey
Bay Aquarium and
research institute)
really added to a sensational atmosphere.
- United States, April 2003. A
visit to South Carolina. Long nights running the fMRI
scanner, but much of the days were free to roam the
beaches of Seabrook Island and explore Charleston.
- Germany, March 2003. Back in
Tuebingen - a great university town with good colleagues.
I also ended up hiking in the black forest with my
friends from Munich and Hamburg. A great reunion, if
altogether too short. Also completed a fair amount of
research.
- England, March 2003. I gave a
talk at the British Neuropsychological Society, and ended up visiting my favorite
parks and museums.
- Italy, March 2003. A trip to
Rome. There were a lot of peace demonstrations at the
time, so it was an unusual atmosphere. However, it is a
great time of year to visit one of the most amazing
cities on the planet. Just mind the drivers - they are
suicidal.
- Brazil, March 2003. A photo
from the lab at the University of Campinas, another Maresias Beach Hotel.
- Germany, January 2003. I
found that BMIbaby has great deals between my home and
Munich. Spent new years with my friends in Herrshing. I
did a bit of hiking, watched a rather insane sled race in
Garmish.
