Eric received the B.A. and M.S. in Cognitive Psychology
from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1990 and
1993 respectively. He completed a predoctoral research
fellowship at NTT Basic Research Laboratories in Japan
in 1994, and worked as a psychoacoustics consultant to
the Harley-Davidson Motor Company the following year. He
received the Ph.D. from the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1998, then did postdoctoral
training in Sid Bacon’s Psychoacoustics Laboratory at
Arizona State University. Eric has been Assistant
Professor at the University of South Carolina since 2001
and Associate Professor since 2007. He is
author/coauthor of a number of papers on temporal speech
information and other auditory topics. He has also
presented papers and chaired technical sessions at ASA
and other professional meetings. He has been the PI on
eight grants from various sources including NOHR and NIH,
and is a consultant to a number of others. Eric teaches
courses on hearing science and speech
science/perception, and lectures on cochlear implants.
He has advised a number of master thesis and doctoral dissertation students,
and a postdoctoral associate. His professional activities
include service on an NIH review panel and reviewer for
a number of journals. Within the university, he has been
a Faculty Senator and has served on and chaired a number
of committees. |
