| BIOMECHANICS OF COUGH AND THROAT CLEARING |
|
Our laboratory has received an R03 grant to use
high-speed videoendoscopy technology to assess the
impact of harmful clearing. This work will add to both
basic science of larngeal biomechanics and clinical
protocols to decrease tissue damage.

| MECHANISM OF THE EFFECT
OF SYSTEMIC HYDRATION ON LARYNGEAL MUCUS |
The effect of systemic hydration on laryngeal mucus is
addressed via studies of 1) visual judgments of mucus
aggregation and 2) blood and urine testing of systemic
hydration as related to laryngeal pathology. |
| TREATMENT EFFICACY OF
VOICE DISORDERS |
We have several studies of treatment
efficacy that are on-going.
-
Utilizing laryngeal recordings to
determine efficacy of ameliorative clearing
behaviors
-
Treatment paradigms for persons with
Spasmodic Dysphonia
-
Treatment prognosis using
acoustic analysis
