Community Disaster Response Services Training Initiative Preparing South Carolina for the Psychosocial
Consequences Disasters, acts of terrorism, and other public health emergencies can be devastating to psychological health. South Carolina’s mental health and public health communities recognize this and have joined with faith-based organizations and academia to develop and implement a comprehensive training and response team program - Community Disaster Response Services (CDRS). CDRS is designed to prepare a cadre of pastoral care, health care, behavioral health, and substance abuse professionals who can address the psychosocial needs of victims, first responders, and others impacted by an All Hazards disaster. Now in its fourth year, 1062 participants have logged over 22,000 hours of training. These dedicated professionals are helping South Carolina maintain its national reputation as a leader in disaster preparedness and response. Currently we are working to format our previous course offerings for use on-line. In the near future participants will be able to access audio files and PowerPoint slides for viewing. Please check back again soon. K-FLASH II© - Registration for the March 23, 2007 K-FLASH II© course has closed.
