Communications assessments for healthcare facilities are necessary to troubleshoot equipment specifications and facilitate interfacing capabilities.  USC-CPHP works closely with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC)  Regional Public Health Preparedness Directors, the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA) to provide these assessments, which are conducted by local ham radio operators and the Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) members.  USC-CPHP coordinates assessments and oversees the installation of ham radio equipment for over 65 facilities statewide and collaborates with SC DHEC on recommendations and approvals.  Policies and protocols are being written to include local support of each facility using radio response teams.
