New partnerships are formed to build SCHEART project:
The South Carolina Educational Television (SC ETV) has become the
driving force for making this all possible. This system was only a
vision until John Crockett, KC4YI, Manager of Transmitter Operations at
SCETV took on the responsibility of the design, installation and
maintenance of the infrastructure.
Through the guidance of the UHCC, the system was anticipated as being
a five project however, that was before Ms Colleen Donovan joined the
team. Ms Donovan was instrumental in creating additional funding opportunities that expedited the building of the
SCHEART network. In addition, we are working closely with Ms
Donovan to coordinate the training initiatives for the radio response
teams.
The
communication infrastructure consist of a series of repeaters strategically
located to support the eight public health regions in our state.
These repeaters can be linked together to
form a statewide emergency communications network or use as a stand
alone for wide area communications. This redundant
communications network is located at broadcast and microwave
towers owned and operated by the South Carolina Educational Television
Network (ETV), using the ETV microwave network as a communications
backbone. ETV co-owns and maintain this emergency communications
network for the benefit of the SCHEART initiative. |
