Radio Response Team Membership
What are SCHEART Radio Response Teams (RRTs)?
- Radio Response Teams are formed by licensed ham radio operators (local Amateur Radio Emergency Services [ARES] organization members and hospital employees) who work in partnership to support the hospital or healthcare agency.
- Radio Response Teams provide backup communications for drills, exercises and real-life events when primary communications systems are lost or severely crippled.
- Radio Response Teams volunteer to support a specific hospital, shelter, healthcare facility, or other ESF-8 responder during major disasters or public health emergencies.
How can I become a Radio Response Team (RRT) member?
To become part of an SCHEART Radio Response Team, volunteers must meet the following criteria:
- Be 18 years of age, and
- Be a licensed ham radio operator.
