CENTER FOR PUBLIC HEALTH PREPAREDNESS
The University of South Carolina
Center for Public Health Preparedness
(USC-CPHP) is supported by a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) grant awarded to the Arnold School of Public Health. The Center is a member of the CPHP network,
which works
to help prepare the nation's public health workforce to recognize and respond to acts of bioterrorism,
emerging infectious diseases and public health emergencies.
Every state now has enormous training needs, limited resources, and an urgent need to prepare
for threats to the public's health. The USC-CPHP is collaborating with other network members to assist
state
and local health departments, such as the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental
Control, to assess public health preparedness training needs, provide training, and evaluate training effectiveness.
