Frequently Asked Questions

Below are four of the more common questions:

Question. How do I purchase a new computer?

Answer. The best way to purchase a new computer is to contact us directly at SPHSupport@gwm.sc.edu. If you have ideas on what system you'd like or a budget in mind, that is helpful, but not necessary. We can work with you to find something that will fit most budgets.

When we choose a system for you, we will save that system as an Equote on Dell's site. All you have to do is either retrieve the Equote and order it with a Purchasing credit cart, or put both the Equote # and the Equote Name on a USC Purchase Requisition Form and Purchasing will order that exact system for you.

Question. What software does ASPH OIT have and support?

Answer. We have and support the following software:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP
  • Microsoft Office 2000, XP, 2003, and 2007 (including FrontPage and Publisher)
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 7
  • Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 and newer and Acrobat Reader 8.0 and newer.
  • Microsoft Outlook 2007
  • Novell Groupwise 6.51
  • SAS 9.1.3 and 9.2
  • SPSS 16.0
  • Host Explorer (IMS/CMS)
  • IBM OnDemand
  • TrendMicro Antivirus

All other software is handled on a case by case basis. Please contact us at SPHSupport@gwm.sc.edu with any software inquires.

Question. How do I request computer support?

Answer. We prefer that all support requests are first emailed to SPHSupport@gwm.sc.edu when at all possible. If you do not have Internet access on your individual PC, then please have someone in your office email us to request support. If no one has Internet access or no one else is able to send an email, please give us a call at one of the numbers on our Contact Page.

Question. How do I reserve the computer lab?

Answer. Please email us at SPHSupport@gwm.sc.edu and we will review the current reservations and let you know if the lab is available for the time requested. All lab reservations are first-come, first-serve.
