Students interested in taking post-baccalaureate coursework
in speech-language pathology but do not plan to pursue a
graduate degree at the University of South Carolina, are
invited to apply to the Graduate School as non-degree
students. A non-degree
student’s admission is limited to 12 semester hours. Upon
completion of these 12 hours, the student must re-apply as a
non-degree student. The Graduate School stipulates that no
more than 6 semester hours taken for non-degree credit may
be later applied toward a degree at the University of
South Carolina.
Students
may take courses either on campus or via distance education. Importantly, all course registrations must be pre-approved
by COMD. Contact our Admissions Counselor, Teresa Boyett,
via e-mail at tboyett@sc.edu
for additional information on taking on-campus courses, or
our Distance Education Director,
Crystal Murphree-Holden for additional information on
talking courses via distance. To register for a COMD course,
you must first be admitted to The Graduate School as a
non-degree student.
Please note: Courses offered through distance education
are not self-paced, and follow the university’s academic
calendar and semester schedule. Course content is provided
on DVD with internet support (e.g., interactive online chat, discussion boards, and Blackboard).
Application Deadline
While there is no application deadline for non-degree
students, such applicants should consult the University’s
academic calendars and apply well in advance of the
semester in which they wish to take coursework.
